Caryll Robertson finds Bramshott Place Village welcoming to people living alone.
Date: November 2011
Mrs Caryll Robertson has been living in Bramshott Place Village, in Liphook, Hampshire, for over a year and moved there, from Nottingham, because, when her husband died three years ago, she naturally felt bereft, and moreover, didn’t feel safe living on her own. One of her daughters was already living in Hampton, and the other, when she is in England, stays in Surrey. “Visiting the girls from Nottingham always involved a time-consuming round trip,” comments Caryll, “as I don’t drive. “So all in all, a move south seemed to be the obvious solution.” Caryll therefore starting looking around Surrey and Hampshire, but chose Bramshott Place Village as she found the developments’ apartments to be “a much better size”, than others she had seen. Being closer to her daughters was another bonus. “Living here, I can see the girls but I’m not on top of them,” she says.
The built-in social life of the village also appealed. As a single lady in a new location, it was good to be able to meet new people quickly. “Everyone has known each other from the beginning,” she continues, “which gives it the feel of a large family.” She has thrown herself into the Bramshott lifestyle with enthusiasm, joining the table tennis group, yoga classes, and the Tuesday coffee mornings. She also uses Stirlings, the restaurant in the Clubhouse, quite frequently, cheerfully admitting: “I hate cooking!”
